Letter T & Pink October 9th-13th
- CALENDAR-This week we will be focusing on the color pink and Letter T. Our friend Tyra Tiger helps us learn letter T's name & sound. This week students will come home with a letter T written on their right hand with a cotton candy scented pink marker to help them know their right hand for flag salute and to reinforce the color and letter they are learning this week. We also have been singing several letter T songs that you can find below. We will talk a lot about how Trick-Or-Treat and Turkey start with T.
- PHONICS-This week along with the other phonics skills we continue to work on like rhyming, listening for beginning & ending sounds, blending syllables we hear into words, and separating words we hear into syllables, we are learning the nursery rhyme, "Humpty Dumpty".
- CIRCLE TIME-This week for our social skills activities we we will talk about the 12 Guiding Principles Word of the Week, "Courage". During circle time we will also do some activities with "Mat Man" that will help us learn body awareness and eventually how to draw a person as well as do some review games to practice naming letters L, F, E, & T.
- PRE-READING/WRITING-This week we will learn to build letter T with our wood pieces. We will color on our pink page in our handwriting books as well as trace the letter T. We will also make a letter T craft where we will tear tissue paper to glue on the letter T. This craft will work on our fine motor skills as we tear paper as well as math skills as we count how many pieces we put on and name their colors. We will also be finishing a Turkey craft this week to use as a Thanksgiving decoration in the future. A letter craft will continue to come home each week as we rotate them out of display here at school. These are great review for students as they learn their letters so if you want an easy way to keep them they could be 3-hole punched and put into a binder to make a letter craft book. Students will also color and bring home a Tyra Tiger book this week that is also great review for letter T. If you save their letter books they will have a whole alphabet book library for review over summer for Kindergarten!
- MATH-Math is imbedded daily into activities that we do. Our calendar time involves learning our colors and counting. While playing during centers, teachers interact with students and encourage counting, sorting, and comparing sizes and shapes.
Below is a playlist of letter T songs. You should see 3 bars in the corner. If you click the bars it should show you a menu of all the songs.
