Letter E & Orange October 2nd-6th
- CALENDAR-This week we will be focusing on the color orange and Letter E. Our friend Ethel Elephant helps us learn letter E's name & sound. This week students will come home with a letter E written on their right hand with an orange scented orange marker to help them know their right hand for flag salute and to reinforce the color and letter they are learning this week. We also will be singing several letter E songs that you can find below.
- PHONICS-This week we are learning the nursery rhyme, "Three Little Kittens".
- CIRCLE TIME-This week for our social skills activities we we will talk about the 12 Guiding Principles Word of the Week, "Optimism". During circle time we will also do some activities with "Mat Man" that will help us learn body awareness and eventually how to draw a person as well as do some review games to practice naming letters L, F, & E.
- PRE-READING/WRITING-This week we will learn to build letter E with our wood pieces. We will color on our orange page in our handwriting books as well as trace the letter E. We will also make a letter E craft where we turn letter E into an elephant and practice body awareness as we glue parts on. A letter craft will now come home each week as we rotate them out of display here at school. These are great review for students as they learn their letters so if you want an easy way to keep them they could be 3-hole punched and put into a binder to make a letter craft book. Students will also color and bring home an Edna Elephant book that is also great review for letter E.
- MATH-Math is imbedded daily into activities that we do. Our calendar time involves learning our colors and counting. Our E craft involves naming colors, and counting how many body parts we glue on letter E. While playing during centers, teachers interact with students and encourage counting, sorting, and comparing sizes and shapes.
Below is a playlist of letter E songs. You should see 3 bars in the corner. If you click the bars it should show you a menu of all the songs.
