Last week we prepared our classroom for the fall season! Our letter craft included fall colored Leaves for letter L put into a pattern and lead us into our new letter this week, F for Fall!
Letter F & Blue September 25th-29th
- CALENDAR-This week we will be focusing on the color blue and Letter F. Our friend Finny Fish helps us learn letter F's name & sound. This week students will come home with a letter F written on their right hand with an blueberry scented blue marker to help them know their right hand for flag salute and to reinforce the color and letter they are learning this week. We also will be singing several letter F songs that you can find below.
- PHONICS-Our new nursery rhyme for this week is, "Old Mother Hubbard".
- CIRCLE TIME-This week for our social skills activities we we will talk about the 12 Guiding Principles Word of the Week, "Perseverance". During circle time we will also do some activities with "Mat Man" that will help us learn body awareness and eventually how to draw a person.
- PRE-READING/WRITING-This week we will learn to build letter F with our wood pieces. We will color on our blue page in our handwriting books as well as trace the letter F. We will also make a letter F craft where we glue feathers onto the F. Soon these craft items will start coming home as we rotate them out of display. These are great review for students as they learn their letters so if you want an easy way to keep them they could be 3-hole punched and put into a binder to make a letter craft book. Students will also color and bring home a Finny Fish book that is also great review for letter F. If you keep these books for review your child will have a book for each letter of the alphabet to look at throughout their summer to review for Kindergarten.
- MATH-Math is imbedded daily into activities that we do. Our calendar time involves learning our colors and counting. Our F craft involves naming colors, comparing big & little feathers, and counting the feathers that are glued on. While playing during centers, teachers interact with students and encourage counting, sorting, and comparing sizes and shapes.
Below is a playlist of letter F songs. You should see 3 bars in the corner. If you click the bars it should show you a menu of all the songs.
